Best Friends Mouse Pad by Judi Kauffman

When a special photo makes you smile each time you look at it, keep it close at hand by turning it into a mouse pad.

Use a vacation photo, picture of a group of friends, a close-up of two friends or a couple, even a favorite tree or garden scene.

Materials:

  • Transfer Magic.com photo transfer paper for color laser copier or ink jet printer
  • Transfer Magic.com rectangular mouse pad
  • Favorite photo
  • Wrinkled fabric or paper (for background)
  • Contrasting paper for photo border
  • Adhesive-back lettering (for computer method, see below)

Instructions:
NOTE - Remember to MIRROR IMAGE (reverse) your photograph and lettering so they are backward on the transfer! When you transfer everything onto the mouse pad it will be correct.

  1. Smooth or iron a wrinkled paper or fabric, keeping the wrinkles. Create first layer of a collage by writing a message with carefully aligned adhesive-back lettering. For second layer, center the photo and photo border above the words. Computer method: To make a collage with a computer use your photo software program to scan background and create lettering. Scan and add the photo and a narrow photo border.
  2. Make a photo transfer at least 1/8" larger than the mouse pad. Heat transfer onto pad. Trim excess.

Reminder:
Transfers made on a color copier must be peeled while hot. Transfers made on an ink jet printer may be peeled while hot (matte finish) or cool (smooth, shiny finish).

For ink jet, burnish the back of the transfer with a soft cloth before peeling.
