Pet Soda Wrap by Judi Kauffman
Get your furry friend to sit still for a portrait and then make
a whimsical soda wrap with the results. Mitten the cat is glancing
over his shoulder at some tiny fish charms. Choose embellishments
that match your pet's personality or favorite toys.
Materials:
- Transfer Magic.com photo transfer paper for color laser copier
or ink jet printer
- Transfer Magic.com soda can wrap
- Pet photo(s)
- Charms, buttons or other tiny embellishments
- Metallic thread, large-eye sewing needle Pencil
- (Sample was completed using Kreinik #16 medium braid)
Instructions:
- Make enough photo transfers to cover soda can wrap. Repeat one
photo, or create a collage of several. Trim, position carefully
and heat transfer onto wrap.
- Thread large-eye sewing needle with metallic thread. Lay wrap
flat on table and arrange charms, buttons or embellishments. To
mark positions for sewing, poke needle through wrap from the front
and mark with pencil on the back. Begin with knot at back (as
if sewing on a button), and keep needle upright when sewing through
the wrap so it won't tear.
- No-sew option. Glue flat-backed embellishments in place instead
of sewing them. This method is not suitable for charms that hang
(they must be sewn in place).
Reminder:
Transfers made on a color copier must be peeled while hot. Transfers
made on an ink jet printer may be peeled while hot (matte finish)
or cool (smooth, shiny finish).
For both, burnish the back of the transfer with a soft cloth before
peeling.
